TRANSPORT IN PERTH: What our students say

Nyasha: In terms of transport obviously if
you live close you can just walk, but if you’re like about half an hour away, the best thing
is probably to use public transport because you don’t have to worry about parking and
it is super easy to use. Sebastian: Transperth, the buses and the trains,
they come regularly, but only during the day. So when you’re out at night and you want to
find a bus in the middle of nowhere at 3 o’clock in the morning, you probably won’t get one. Deebben: Cabs okay as well if you go for a night out, Friday nights or Saturday nights out in the city, it’s not too expensive to hire
maxi cab with a bunch of friends and come back. Mithra: In Perth I get around using public
transport, it’s really easy especially when you get your Smartrider from Curtin. It gives
you concession, student concession and to get around all you need to search is where
you want to go and search for it on Google Maps and they will tell you exactly which
bus to take, where to stop and if you can’t follow Google Maps there’s a Transperth website
which you can go to and it’s really simple. Sarah: Just go to the Transperth website and
type in your address and then the landmark or address where you want to go, and it routes
it out for you, right off the bat. Nyasha: It is the most handiest tool ever.
It has everything, all the prices, how to get to places, all the zones, so you can print
it out even if you really want to. Emilie: If you do want to get a car, I’d say
you can but it might be a bit expensive just because fuel expensive and sometimes parking
too is not the best. If you’re going to the city I’d say take the bus, if you’re planning
on doing long trips going down south or up north to view, to see a bit more of Perth then
yeah, a car would be helpful. Xin: You want to be more free so you can buy
a car, but importantly you should have a licence first. International licence works but you
need to translate it. Adhya & Rey: Oh and friends. Always ask your
friends, oh but the train’s really late, you can drive me. Ask your friends, have no shame.
I don’t, I get around everywhere.
